Best Western Hotels & Resorts sends Sloth Encounters packing

After Humane Long Island informed Best Western Hotels & Resorts that Sloth Encounters' owner Larry Wallach was hiding baby sloths from federal authorities inside the Best Western Mill River Manor in Rockville Centre, the brand labeled Wallach's actions "appalling" and "advised the Hotel ownership about Mr. Wallach and the numerous investigations and citations currently pending against him and requested that he be prohibited from bringing any non-service animals onto the Hotel premises."

This action followed a USDA inspection report that cited Wallach for violating the Animal Welfare Act after he failed to show a veterinary care plan for a baby sloth and told inspectors that the sloths stay at his brother or girlfriend's house when the facility is closed, when in fact he was harboring them at the Best Western Mill River Manor.
